Letter From the Editor

Dear readers,

I am very proud of our last issue of the semester. I would first like to thank all of the staff for their amazing work all-semester long. They have been committed to reporting with passion and care, and it has made for six incredible issues. I am looking forward to working with all of you again in the fall. And Bradley and Macye, we will miss you! As well, we will miss our intelligent and dedicated executive editor Chloe Wright, who will be spending the semester in Dublin! I’d also like to thank our faculty advisor, Lee Hancock for all of the support she provides The Purple. We couldn’t do it without you!

In our sixth issue, we have some very important pieces for you all to read. I’d like to draw attention to a piece on USDA cuts, a letter from our outgoing OG president Alexis Miniat and an article explaining how the University is supporting our international students amid uncertainty about educational visas.

This semester, The Purple, as well as many other student newspapers around the country, have navigated reporting on important issues while at the same time working under the constraints of our current political climate. I hope it is not lost on our readers that we remain dedicated to reporting on the issues that affect our community. We, as well as the University, care deeply about all of our students, including our international students. I would ask that you all practice compassion and discernment during this tough time, and that we all come together to stand up for what is right.

As one final disclaimer, our past issue’s papers were lost in the mail- literally. Apologies for the delay. We hope we will all have not one but two final issues as we wrap up this semester this week.

Thank you for reading; we will see you in the fall!

YSR and EQB
