The Sewanee Purple Athlete of the Week is Hayden Hunt (C’19). Hunt, a first year player on the Sewanee lacrosse team, has performed exceptionally this season, especially as of late, including his completion of an incredible stretch, scoring fifteen goals in the Tigers’ last seven games. Sewanee is off to a 5-3 start this season and Hunt has played a key part in the team’s success. In a two-game stretch against Millsaps and Birmingham-Southern, Hunt scored seven goals and three assists, including five goals in one game. With such success from Hunt and many other standout players on the team, the Tigers look primed for success for the present and the future.
This year’s Sewanee lacrosse team is off to a great start. Besides the record that they boast, they recently broke a school record for goals in a game. This record was broken on March 19 in an absolute massacre against Oglethorpe, a game which they won 27-1. In that game, eight players scored two goals each, nineteen players scored overall, and Sewanee dominated in all aspects of the game. With a promising start to the season, reenergized by new talent like Hunt, the Sewanee lacrosse team looks to improve themselves for both this season and for the future.
