Letter from the Editor

Dear readers,

I suppose I have some big shoes to fill. Fleming Smith (C’19) is both a talented journalist and a priceless mentor. With her guidance in mind, I will endeavor to produce the quality paper that Sewanee’s readership has come to know in years past.

With the arrival of the Easter semester, The Purple has had a turnover in staff. I’m excited to welcome Lucy Rudman (C’22), Klarke Stricklen (C’22), Max Saltman (C’21), Katherine LeClair (C’21), Olivier Mbabazi (C’22), Sydney Leibfritz (C’20), and Sonia Gueye (C’22) on the Executive Board. We’re excited to pursue further changes to ensure the paper remains lively and changeable as the times demand.

I’m especially delighted to point out the subtle yet dynamic layout changes enacted by Richard Pryor III, our Layout Manager and Sports Editor. He spent Winter Break poring over periodicals in order to perfect ours. Here’s a hint: check out the new column headlines and bylines.

I look forward to pursuing growth and lending an ear to all on campus in the coming year. As always, thank you for supporting your local paper. We appreciate you.

EQB,

Anna Mann
