Sewanee’s Inaugural Soul Food Luncheon Promises a Delectable Dive into African American Culture

Sewanee, Tennessee – February 23, 2024 – Sewanee, the University of the South, is proud to announce its first annual Soul Food Luncheon in collaboration with McClurg Dining Hall, Student Involvement, and Tigers Programming Council (TEB). Scheduled for February 28 from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm, this event promises to be a celebration of culinary delight and cultural immersion.

McClurg Dining Hall will be transformed into a haven of soulful flavors, offering a rich tapestry of dishes representing the depth and diversity of African American cuisine. From traditional favorites to contemporary interpretations, students and attendees will have the opportunity to taste and savor the essence of soul food.

“We are thrilled to bring the Soul Food Luncheon to Sewanee,” said organizers from Student Involvement and Tigers Programming Council. “This event is not just about food; it’s about celebrating the cultural heritage and culinary traditions that have shaped and enriched our community.” – Ivory Roberts

Adding to the festivities, a live band will provide the soundtrack for the afternoon, infusing the atmosphere with rhythm and energy. Attendees can expect an immersive experience that engages all the senses, from the tantalizing aromas of soul food to the vibrant sounds of live music.

As an extra treat, the first 70 students to arrive at the Luncheon will receive a complimentary Soul Food Luncheon T-shirt, serving as a cherished memento of this memorable event.

We wanted to create an event that not only showcases the incredible flavors of soul food but also fosters a sense of community and connection. We invite everyone to join us for an unforgettable culinary journey.
