Letter from the Editor

Dear Readers,

It gives me great pleasure to introduce myself as the new Editor-in-Chief of The Sewanee Purple. After a semester studying literature and creative writing in the great rainy Republic of Ireland, I will welcome this position with an open mind and heart.

I am incredibly thankful for the past Editor-in-Chief Lizzy Donker (C ‘26) for trusting me with the position. I always admired how approachable, humble, and hardworking she is, and I aim to lead in the same way. I picked former Junior Editor Sanjana Priyonti to become my Executive Editor, a choice I am grateful for every day. She is sharp, capable, and dedicated to making the paper as great as it can be.

For our first issue back, as is our wont, we spoke with the Vice Chancellor about current campus issues and concerns. For those who felt Blue Chair’s absence, do not worry; read News Editor Ginna Allen (C ‘29) article on its reopening. We also cover the current meteorological updates on the Domain. Was it a snowy weekend for you? Or was it a disappointment instead? Read our writers’ thoughts for more ponderings on the “snow.”

In this stormy, “swoggy,” and gloomy weather, pick up a copy of the Purple and curl underneath a blanket. You deserve it.

YSR & EQB,

Chloe Wright (C ‘27)

Editor-in-Chief
