The Sewanee Equestrian team competed at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) Valentine’s Day weekend for their 3rd horse show of the year. Teams in attendance were Belmont University, Maryville College, MTSU, Murray State University, Tennessee Tech University, University of Tennessee, University of Tennessee—Chattanooga, Vanderbilt University, and Sewanee. Sewanee was the High Point Team Champion for both the Saturday and Sunday competitions. Individual first place winners in the Saturday competition were riders Buckley Wallace (C’17) (Open over fences), Sara Parks (C’16) (Intermediate over fences), Emily Guest (C’15) (Novice over fences), Sammy Head (C’18) (Novice Flat), and Leslie Goodman (C’17) (Advanced walk trot canter). Additionally, Sewanee rider Sara Parks was the high point rider of the Saturday show.
Sunday first place winners were Buckley Wallace (Open over fences), Iris Harrison (C’17) (Open over fences), Mary Marshall Fariss (C’17) (Novice over fences), Abby Bray (C’16) (Advanced walk trot canter), and Kimberly Williams (C’17) (Walk trot). Mary Marshall Fariss and Buckley Wallace tied for high point rider of the Sunday show. The team has one more show at Murray State University in Kentucky before moving on to regionals if the team qualifies. Riders who have already qualified for individual regionals are Guest, Wallace, Caroline White (C’16), Kathryn Miller C’17), Parks, Fariss, Lindsay Stevenson (C’17), Goodman, and Harrison.
