This weekend, the Sewanee Softball team had a tournament in Jackson, Mississippi against Millsaps. They played four games against the Majors this weekend, two Saturday and two Sunday. Shayla Vandergriff pitched the first game. Sewanee had two hits, but no runs. Sewanee played the second game against Millsaps that afternoon. Grace Cobbs, Britni Nunley, and Vandergriff took turns pitching the second game. Amanda Watters scored a run. Cobbs and Nunley pitched the third game. Caroline Holmes and Cobbs had one hit each. Vandergriff pitched the final game of the tournament, and junior Sarah Burklin had a hit.
Even though the Majors beat the Tigers this weekend, the Softball girls are not at all discouraged. “We played hard and gave maximum effort. We know what we need to work on and we are excited to see what the rest of the season holds!” (Sarah Burklin, c’16) Be sure to support our Softball girls at their first home game against Berry on March 28 and 29!
