The Sewanee Purple’s Athlete of the Week is Taylor Childress (C’18). Childress, who plays tennis for the 10th ranked Lady Tigers, has been on fire lately, winning her last seven matches en route to a 14-3 singles record this year. She also went undefeated in the last week. Childress has stepped up in high pressure situations as well, as she holds wins over several nationally ranked teams, including number- nine ranked Washington University. With the success that Childress has enjoyed, one can see how it has affected the Sewanee Tigers’ team.

The Sewanee Lady Tigers are ranked 10th in the nation this season, and have big plans for the end of this season. The Tigers are in the hunt for their fourth straight conference championship this season, and have yet to lose a conference game since joining the SAA. With all of this success that the Lady Tigers have enjoyed over the last few seasons, it is safe to say that a dynasty of sorts has been created by these girls. With contributions to the team like that of Childress, it is safe to say that the Sewanee Women’s Tennis Team is looking forward to future success, and the continuation of their dominance.
