Track and Field competes in Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (April 22, 2016) – Led by newly crowned Southern Athletic Association (SAA) javelin champion Ridge Davis, the Sewanee track and field teams set 12 personal records during day one of the SAA Track and Field Championships.

In the last field event of Friday, Davis threw his first attempt at 48.87m. After fouling his next two attempts, he threw his next attempt at 45.97m. In his final attempt, Davis bombed a throw 53.85m for the win over Centre’s Ivy Dugan.

On the track, L’Or Puymartin finished 11th in the women’s 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 13:01.48. Right behind Puymartin was Hannah Faulkner, who finished with a time of 13:20.22.

In the men’s steeplechase, Jourdan Redden finished eighth with a time of 10:21.14.
Also on Friday, junior Mark McAlister finished seventh in the men’s 10000-meters with a time of 33:45.47.
