McClurg profile: Denise Lamz

The majority of Sewanee students go to McClurg at least once a day. With many students coming in and out of the dining hall, it takes a lot of work to keep it clean. Denise Lamz takes care of all the housekeeping. Lamz makes sure to keep McClurg organized and clean every day. A native of Grundy County, Lamz has worked at Sewanee for about two and a half years.

Q. What is your favorite Sewanee/Monteagle restaurant and why?
A. I really enjoy going to the Globe. I like how quiet it is and the dim lights that give it its atmosphere.

Q. What is your culinary background?
A. I know how to cook for myself but I mostly keep to housekeeping.

Q. What is your favorite McClurg Line?
A. I look at every line and look at the quality of the food and decide from there.

Q. What is your favorite McClurg Dish?
A. I like everything at McClurg. I just like food.

Q. What is your favorite thing about working here?
A. What is there not to enjoy? There is always something going on that makes working here enjoyable. This job also brings a lot of joy and has taught me a lot about respect.

Q. What is your favorite movie?
A. I like my family videos. Especially of my daughter, who is a cancer survivor.

Q. What are your hobbies?
A. I like to exercise at the gym.

Q. Who is your biggest inspiration?
A. God is my biggest motivation and the key to success.

Q. Do you have a favorite band or musical artist?
A. I love music in general and different kind of genres. I have a lot of respect for performers.

Q. Are there any benefits to working on a college campus with students?
A. I love the fashion of the students here at Sewanee. I try some styles on me and some I don’t. There is a lot of variety in the fashion here and I enjoy it.
