With a revamped Sewanee Market and a newly reopened Shenanigans generating a lot of chatter around campus, it would seem that downtown Sewanee is a more viable social option than ever before. Recently, the popular eatery Julia’s revealed to the Purple that it will be upping the ante even further, with a redesigned menu featuring favorable deals and delicious specials for students to enjoy.

Central to Julia’s new menu is the “L8TE Shift”, so called because it begins at 8 p.m. (and ends at 10). The L8TE Shift menu feature runs from Mondays to Saturdays, and grants Sewanee students 10% off on everything Julia’s has to offer: Happy Hour appetizers consisting of hearty but tasty dips and platters, dinner specials such as Crawfish Enchiladas, Bacon-wrapped Meatloaf, and Fried Chicken, and a surprisingly large selection of beers and cocktails – 30 in total! Besides bottles of everything from Miller High Life to something called “Boulder Sweaty Betty”, Julia’s also sells pints for $3.75 and the cheapest pitcher in town: $11.50.

Julia’s, whose slogan is “Always Something Different”, also offers 10% off on its beer and cocktail menu during Happy Hour, which runs from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. With the new deals, the restaurant intends to let students know that it has quite a bit more to offer than local ingredients and awesome catering, although it is a force to be reckoned with on those fronts as well. This reporter was most surprised to learn about the expansive beer menu, the special Sewanee student discount, and even plans for a potential rooftop deck in Julia’s future.

New Facebook and Twitter accounts also signal Julia’s commitment to connecting with Sewanee students. Discerning Sewanee students of strong moral fiber will make sure to look Julia’s up, give them a like, and most definitely try them out.
